Operational Experimentation

The Ranger Group has been a member of the analysis group for the past several TRIDENT WARRIOR experiments and currently provides the lead analyst for data collection for the annual experiment. Our TRIDENT WARRIOR effort includes experimentation planning, metric development, at-sea coordination, and post-event analysis.

  • The Ranger Group recently developed a code of best practices for experimentation (COBP-E) for the Director of Innovation at the Office of Naval Research. This work has required us to participate in a variety of operational experiments over the past few years, making us familiar with current experimentation efforts as well as contemporary naval, joint, and combined operations.
  • The Ranger Group participated in TALISMAN SABRE 07, assisting the USPACOM J85 office in developing an experimentation CONOPS and as experiment observer and coordinator at the combined headquarters in Queensland Australia.
  • As part of its ONR experimentation efforts, The Ranger Group observed SEAHAWK 07, an CNECC sponsored exercise and experiment looking at new technologies to support a naval expeditionary headquarters.
